Education Event 18th June 2016

The final THI education event of the school year took place in the Narrows on 18th June.

Pupils from Portaferry Integrated and St. Mary's Primary schools attended sessions with storytellers to learn all about the smuggling history of Strangford Lough. They took part in loads of smuggler related activities, ending with a treasure hunt for gold coins. Eamon McMullan and David Dunlop were super storytellers and Maureen McCarthy assisted with all the dressing up.

Everyone had a great day.

Belfast Titanic Society

As part of the Portaferry THI outreach programme Allison Murphy was invited to give a talk to the Belfast Titanic Society. The talk was entitled "HMS Hampshire, Lord Kitchener and Hugh McNally."

The audience was fascinated to learn about Portaferry's history and links to WW1 at sea.
